The Way We Wore
June 10, 2020
Twenty-three of the world’s most charismatic models – from Gigi Hadid to Joan Smalls, Kate Moss to Adut Akech – have donated pieces from their personal wardrobes to raise money for two worthy causes, in the Way We Wore Auction launching on 9 June.
Helena Christensen is donating a vintage Christian Dior dress. “I wore this dress to an Oscars-week party. History is in every thread, and it oozes an elegance and glamour that hardly exists anymore. I felt as if I were playing the part of a very cool, chic character wearing it.”
Lots of the women donated pieces that had real sentimental value. Kate Moss passed on a much-loved Alexander McQueen jacket she was given by Sarah Burton, and that she hoped would bring joy to someone else. Joan Smalls gave a cherished Givenchy bag that, at one time, had accompanied her all over the world. Helena Christensen donated a vintage Christian Dior dress she had worn to an Oscars party; Ashley Graham donated a Christian Siriano dress she had worn to the CFDA awards. Gigi Hadid sent over a Fenty jacket and a Dior saddle bag, with her best wishes. Adut Akech sent a Chanel quilted handbag she was given after walking in its latest show.
